Your Future
Earth Scientists are needed globally to solve some of our most pressing problems. In the MASt course, you not only require more knowledge on Earth Sciences, but you also develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and learn to drive your independent research and communicate your science. Employment and PhD opportunities increasingly look for Masters-level qualifications.
Graduates of our degrees end up in many different careers:
- Research & Academia – Many graduates go on to PhDs at Cambridge or top institutions worldwide, contributing to cutting-edge science.
- Industry & Resources – Others apply their knowledge in energy, sustainability, and resource management — fields where Cambridge-trained geoscientists are highly sought after.
- Policy & Global Challenges – With climate and environment at the top of the global agenda, Cambridge Earth Scientists often move into government, NGOs, and international organisations.
- Teaching & Outreach – Earth Scientists are also needed to educate everyone on the how the Earth works and our impact on Earth’s sensitive systems and limited resources.
- Environmental Data Science – The skills developed during the degree also lead graduates into finance, insurance, consulting, technology, machine learning and data science.
